Months later they selected him in the fifth round of the NFL Draft. While there haven’t been any reports of staring competitions (yet), several players attending the combine have said they’ve met either formally or informally with the team. The first player to discuss a meeting with Seattle was running back Myles Gaskin from the University of Washington. The 5-foot-9, 205-pound Gaskin was fifth among all running backs with 24 reps on the bench press and ninth in the vertical jump with 35.5 inches.Gregg Bell of the Tacoma News Tribune also reported that offensive lineman Kaleb McGary met with Seattle at the combine. The Seahawks have a history of drafting players who have overcome a difficult situation and McGary spoke about many of his personal struggles during his media interview at the combine. Seattle also has a history of drafting linemen who test well at the combine. McGary finished in the top 10 among all linemen in several of the workouts: a 33.5 inch vertical jump (2nd), a 5.05 second 40-yard dash (6th), a 7.66 second three cone drill (8th), and a broad jump of 9 feet, 3 inches (10th).Huskies quarterback Jake Browning met with the Seahawks new offensive assistant and former Seahawks quarterback Austin Davis this week. Browning is scheduled to work out on Saturday. Two players who reportedly met with all 32 of the NFL teams at the combine were Wisconsin fullback Alec Ingold and San Jose State tight end Josh Oliver. Hunter Renfrow, a 5-foot-10 slot receiver out of Clemson, and Hakeem Butler, a 6-foot-5 receiver from Iowa State K.J. Wright Jersey Green
, said they “basically” met with all 32 clubs, so we can only guess the Seahawks were among those teams. With 60 catches in 2018, Butler finished in the top 10 in the nation with 1,318 receiving yards. His 22 yards per catch was good for a top 3 finish among all receivers.Retired NFL lineman Geoff Schwartz recently detailed the differences between the 15-minute formal interviews and the informal interviews that go on at the combine. Considering players are allowed 15 formal interviews, but informal interviews are limited only in terms of time, there are many interactions that will go unreported over the weekend. At the very least, the reports provide fans with insight toward which players the Seahawks have some interest in going into the 2019 NFL Draft. For the Seattle Seahawks, the legal tampering period has seen a good piece of the roster leave in free agency, with six members of the 2018 53 man roster already having agreed to terms with other clubs. These departures to date include Justin Coleman, Brett Hundley http://www.seahawkslockerroom.com/authentic-jaron-brown-jersey
, J.R. Sweezy, Earl Thomas, Mike Davis and Shamar Stephen, all of whom are eligible to be included in comp pick calculations. It is still very early in the comp pick process, but per Nick Korte of OverTheCap.com, as of this moment the team is currently looking at comp picks ofA third round pick for Thomas signing with the Baltimore Ravens, A fourth round pick for Coleman signing with the Detroit Lions, A sixth round pick for Shamar Stephen signing with the Minnesota Vikings andA sixth round pick for Mike Davis signing with the Chicago Bears. The term of Sweezy’s agreement with the Arizona Cardinals have not yet come out, but that could potentially replace one of the sixth round picks with something higher. In any case, there is still a ton of time for the Hawks to sign free agents that cancel the currently projected comp picks out, or for other former Seahawks to sign contracts large enough that the project comp picks improve. I’ll do my best to keep readers updated on these matters as free agency progresses.
