There are some in the media who seem to want to criticize Gettleman for anything and everything. The defense is, though, a problem — a major one — and the Giants recognize that. They also know the offensive line needs to be better and that they have a quarterback situation — short- and long-term — to address. As well, the idea that the organization’s evaluation process is “broken” because they made a couple of mistakes is silly. Whatever the evaluation process is it seemed to work pretty well for a talented draft class. The overly generous contracts given to Jonathan Stewart and Patrick Omameh were mistakes. Period. That doesn’t mean a team’s process is broken. It means they made a wrong choice. I prefer to give the Giants credit for admitting their mistakes and quickly moving on from players like Omameh and Ereck Flowers.
