Unfortunately, the Titans returned the kickoff 58 yards to the Patriots 40-yard line and followed that up with a 24-yard pass to Corey Davis with Stephon Gilmore in coverage to get into the red zone. Dion Lewis carried the ball four times for 12 yards, and then Marcus Mariota found tight end Jonnu Smith on a crosser ahead of Patrick Chung for an easy touchdown and 7-0 lead. Not a good start for New England. Tom Brady and the Patriots offense tried to respond, but Brady made a bad decision to throw to James White for -3 yards on first down (Cordarrelle Patterson was wide open on the other side) for a loss and then threw into the dirt to Julian Edelman. Brady then threw a beautiful deep ball to Josh Gordon for 44 yards to get into field goal range, and then three straight passes to Gordon- two incomplete, one a drop- for zero yards. Stephen Gostkowski hit the 52-yarder to bring the score to 7-3.Oof, Stephon Gilmore decided to stay in New England this week. Corey Davis caught a rainbow 23-yard touchdown over Gilmore (albeit on a coverage-beater where Jonathan Jones was likely supposed to be in tighter coverage underneath), giving Davis 63 yards and a touchdown on three catches. The Patriots need a touchdown on this next drive.Brady found Julian Edelman for 29 yards on first down to cross midfield and then a a combination of 15 yards on 3 carries by Michel and a 14-yard grab by Gordon has the Patriots driving in the red zone to finish the first quarter.Q2Brady found Edelman to the short left for 5 yards and was stuffed on third down, but the Patriots went for it on fourth down and Brady hit White for 11 yards down to the goal line. Michel was stuffed on first down, but James Develin took the carry as the up-back on second down for a touchdown, bringing the score to 17-10.The Titans went three-and-out and Tom Brady found Edelman for 30 yards on the first play of the next drive, but couldn’t capitalize as Gostkowski missed the 52-yard field goal attempt. Tennessee couldn’t do anything with the great field position and punted back to the Patriots to pin them at the 9-yard line. The Patriots went three-and-out and gave the Titans great field position at the New England 37-yard line.Mariota and the Titans capitalized on the great field position with another 20 yards to Corey Davis over Gilmore on third down, 11 yards to Anthony Firkser over Devin McCourty on third down, and then Derrick Henry plunged in for the 1-yard touchdown score to extend the lead to 24-10.The Patriots get a chance for a double-score with 69 seconds and a time out and the ball after the half. Brady has been wildly inconsistent Eric Rowe Jersey , completing 8 of 16 (50%) for 130 yards, while only targeting Gordon (8 times), Edelman (4 times), and White (4 times).Brady started the next drive with an incomplete pass to White after avoiding some pressure before throwing another incomplete pass to Gordon. Brady found Edelman on first down and Michel picked up the first down, but then Brady threw a deep pass wide of Chris Hogan, who was unable to get separation; Brady then doinked a ball off of Edelman’s helmet; Brady found Josh Gordon for a big first down; Brady was pressured and had to throw the ball away; Dwayne Allen and Trent Brown and Marcus Cannon all suffered various injuries; Brady dumped the ball to James White; Brady threw the ball incomplete to Jacob Hollister; Ryan Allen punted the ball.The Patriots are getting embarrassed and there doesn’t appear to be a single solution. Titans receivers are getting wide open, Marcus Mariota is now scrambling, Dion Lewis is picking up yards after contact, and the Titans drove down to kick a field goal to take a three-score lead, up 27-10. New England has to be perfect over the final 19 minutes in order to make this a game.It’s pretty clear that Josh McDaniels and the Patriots don’t trust the offensive line as they’ve been using a lot of misdirection and quick passes. LaAdrian Waddle was embarrassed by Brian Orakpo as James White was tackled for a 5-yard loss and the Patriots punted from the 43-yard line. This comeback isn’t happening.The Titans have the ball on their 34-yard line to end the quarter. The Patriots are 1-14 under Bill Belichick when trailing by 17 or more through three quarters.Q4The Patriots forced the Titans to punt to start the fourth quarter. A nice throw to Jacob Hollister and a pair of passes to Julian Edelman moved the Patriots into Titans territory. Brady threw incomplete to Josh Gordon and then threw a hospital ball to Edelman on second down. On third down, Julian Edelman threw a pass to Tom Brady, who tripped and fell shy of the first down. It would have been an easy first down if he kept his feet. Marcus Cannon was flagged for a false start on fourth-and-one. Logan Ryan knocked the ball away from Edelman and the Patriots turned the ball over on downs. Julian Edelman went to the locker room. Oh boy. Ahahahahah incredible call by the Titans to draw up the same double reverse and pass to a quarterback. Marcus Mariota is clearly more athletic than Tom Brady and took it 21 yards and did not trip. Derrick Henry is closing out the game for the Titans, rushing the ball over and over until he reached the end zone for a 34-10 lead.
